I'm petrified rooted to my place, eyes widened and my body shivering seeing a huge demon like animal looking like a lion standing at the top stairs. But it's not a lion as the demon is barking at me.
Lion can't bark right?
It is pale-golden in colour and has thick hairs covering its entire body. I'm standing glued to my place too terrified to breath. My mind is freezed to think.
It's opening and closing it's mouth ferociously showing its monstrous canine teeth.
Wait. Why is it opening it's mouth too wide? As if it's barking.
Holy hell. It's really barking at me. It's ready to pounce and tear my flesh if I don't run in a second.
Ahhhh! I scream before I start to descend the stairs not caring if the lady-lion is standing there waiting for me with a rolling pin in her hand.
Atleast the rolling pin is better than this lion.
God what type of scary house is this? I'm not staying here even for a second. That is if this lion and lady-lion won't kill me before I escape.
"You theif don't run. I have informed the security. They will catch you".
"You better stay right here". The old lady is screaming profanities behind me running to catch me. But I'm quicker than her fat body.
I'm right infront of the main door when I crash into a muscular chest. I'm panting with panic and I try to push away the person who caught me but the strong arms grip my waist without allowing me to run.
"Samaira, what's wrong with you", I hear an all familiar voice of my husband. Before I speak there are two loud voices of the barking lion and the lady-lion and many footsteps of the guards running towards the door.
Oh my goodness! She really called the security.
"Nick she is theif. Catch her", the lady lioness screams running with a rolling pin in her right hand like a warrior.
There is a split second of silence before Nick analyzes what's really happening here and sighs in relief.
"Charlie, she is not a theif", Nick sighs rubbing his forehead.
"No. She is a theif. I saw her entering into my kitchen and she was stealing my food", she stomps like a little kid. My blood boils hearing her calling me theif again and again. Enough is enough I'm not listening this anymore.
"You old-woman can you stop your theif-theif song for a second and listen to me patiently", I scoff.
Her face turns blood-red in a second and she lunges at me with her weapon high in the air. "Did you call me old-woman? Old-woman huh?, I will show you this old-woman's strength".
My eyes widen realizing she is not kidding and she will go through hee plans if I don't move and I hang on to the only help I can get at this moment.
"Nick, save me", I scream hiding behind him for my dear life.
"Charlie....Charlie listen to me she is not a theif", Nick holds onto her hands trying to stop but her attention is focused on me as she is wiggling in his hold glaring at me.
"Am I old-woman huh, old-woman?", she glares at me.
"Yes old-woman. I can't call you aunt now. You are past that age, right?", I retort still clutching Nick's shirt and smirking at her.
"I will kill you and feed you to Guinness, she bounces on me but Nick is holding her hands tightly".
Thanks husband for today.
"Charlie stop she is my wife", Nick raises his voice halting her movements. Her eyes widen for a second almost dramatically and takes a step back.
Nick pulls me beside him, his hands on my waist and confirms her again.
"Yes. She is Mrs.Samaira Remington, my wife", he tells gazing at me like a loving husband, for which I roll my eyes.
Her face turns red but this time in embarrasment but it lasts only for a minute as she puts back her serious expression on her face.
She motions me to come forward in one finger and Nick pushes me forward with a mischievous smile on his face.
She scans me from head to toe carefully and she circles me as If examining every side of an object that you brought in a shop. I scowl at her growing uncomfortable with each passing second.
What the hell is she doing?
Oh no! Is she examining a new bride like old grannys?
What if she realizes I'm pregnant?
She finally stands infront of me with a dissatisfied look with her hand on her hip. She looks at Nick before speaking.
"I thought your choice would be better son. But this is OK".
What the hell? Did she just referred me as this as in this? God forgive me if I kill this woman.
"And listen to my words girl", she glares at me with a final look. "You are not allowed to enter near my kitchen. It's my baby and I don't like strangers in there", she crosses her hand jutting her chin up.
If I was shocked earlier, my jaw hit the floor now. Stranger? Who the hell is stranger here? For god's sake it's my husband's home. Though I won't tell it aloud.
Before I can open my mouth one more lion makes it appearance barking loudly. But now it's glaring at Nick at the place where his hand is placed on my waist.
"Guiness!", Nick says merrily and approaches the barking demon before he crouches infront of it and rubs its back lovingly. Guiness's face calms down and it appears sad as if it really missed Nick before it opens its mouth and nuzzles its face in his chest.
Ok, why am I feeling left out here?
Ok one lion name is Guinness and lady-lion name is Charlie.
As if sensing my presence the lion barks in my direction as if asking Nick who am I. Nick smirks in my direction before he murmurs something in its ears.
The demon scans my face before it starts barking in my direction.
"Nick, you idiot. What did you tell that lion?", I scream.
He laughs throwing his head backward as if amused by my plight. "Lion? seriously?", he asks trying to control his laughter.
My eyebrows furrow. "Please. Excuse me for not knowing what this lion like barking thing is known as", I roll my eyes pointing at the lion.
Guiness reaches me with two wide steps and holds my dress in its sharp teeths and start pulling me. My eyes widen in fear. What if it bites me?
"Nicholas!!", I yelp in terror trying to remove my clothe from its mouth.
"Guiness! Come back", Nick orders in stern voice before the demon leaves my clothes.
"Go back", he orders and it ascends the stairs easily but not before glaring at me like silently warning me to beware I will be waiting for you.
As soon as the demon leaves I don't waste a second before I jog towards the door ready to leave.
"Sam, what are you doing?", I hear his voice but I don't stop.
"What the hell are you doing?", he grips my arms and turns me swiftly such that I'm facing him.
"Sam stop this child's play", he exclaims
Before I can take a step ahead he leans forward, grab me around my waist with one arm and the other under my knees.
I squeak clutching his shirt for support as he carries me upstairs, right where the lion disappeared.
"Hey, you idiot. What have I done to you? Are you feeding me to that damn lion?", I scream thrashing in his arms.
But he is not a bit affected by my outburst as he is ascending the steps like a king. "You stupid asshole leave me before I scream for help"
He smirks gazing at me before he stops near a wide door and opens it with his foot.
I'm greeted by the majestic wide room and he lowers me onto the floor. Seeing the masculine touch to the room I conclude that it's my husband's room.
"See even if you lock me up I'm not living in this madhouse", I huff remembering the welcome I got on my first day.
He sighs in defeat. "See Charlie isn't bad. She is just territorial over her kitchen. She has been our cook right from dad's university time".
I nod in understanding. She is not the major problem here.
"And....and what about that l..lion", I ask trying to mask my fear.
"Stop calling it lion Sam. It's a dog for godsake. No need to be afraid of it".
Damn him. He is scolding me for that lion.
"D..dog?"
"Yes it's Tibetan Mastiff, breed of dog, it's harmless unless you call it a thing or lion", he smirks.
I scoff at him. "Whatever, Nick keep your dog away from me".
I scan the room which is lot more bigger than the one in his parents home. And all my belongings are neatly arranged here.
I raise my brows crossing my hands and directing my gaze towards him.
"Why did you bring me to your room?"
"You wish to sleep in the hall?", he questions with a smug look.
"Ofcourse not. Can't I get a separate room?"
He answers almost quickly. "No. You are my wife and you will stay with me in my room".
"Are you for real? Stop using this wife card everytime and stop calling me
that", I huff remembering yhe way he introduced me to Charlie.
"Stop calling you what?"
"That. What you called me infront of Charlie"
"What did I call you? Can you please enlighten me sweetheart?", he asks innocently.
"Aggh..... I know you are acting delusional intentionally. Stop calling me with your last name. I don't like it"
With one harsh tug he pulls me on top of his hard chest. I gasp, glaring at him.
"Just because you don't like being addressed by my last name. It's not going to change the fact that you are my wife. So instead of fighting for every chance you get , it's better if you get accustomed to my name Mrs.Remington", he smiles.
"Look Nick you can't force me to change my last name. I don't like giving up my identity just because I'm married. I'm my own person and I won't do that unless if I want to", I state with finality.
He just stares at my face as if he is trying to read my soul and finally nods in agreement muttering,"Ok".
"Ok?"
"Yes. I won't force you to do anything that you are not comfortable with. So until you wish to take my last name with your free will, Until you trust me to take my identity, Until you accept me to be one of your own , I will never bring this topic again", he says with a deep thought.
"But that's not going to stop me from claiming you as mine, Mrs.Remington", he smirks at the end.
Ofcourse. A certified asshole.
